A full-size basketball court at sea? Why not? So Royal Caribbean put them on Freedom and Voyager class ships - just don't let the ball go out of bounds. Equipment is available on the Sports Decks and all ages are welcome.
The basketball courts are so popular that for Radiance and Sovereign class ships we've put in half-courts. These courts can also be used for volleyball, and, as always, all the equipment is available on the Sports Decks.
If running fast doesn't do it, the view just might take your breath away. You'll find running tracks on every ship in the fleet. The tracks are open to anyone, but proper shoes are recommended.
Want to get ready for a big match at the next port? If you're sailing on a Freedom, Voyager or Radiance class ship, Royal Caribbean has just the thing to help you work out that slice. A realistic golf simulator is a great tool for perfecting your game. And it's a whole lot of fun too. A small fee is required.
If you just can't wait 'til you get to shore, you can pick up a quick golf game right on the ship. This small course doesn't allow for long drives, but it's a great place to perfect that short game. Golf courses are available on Freedom, Voyager and Radiance class ships, Splendour of the Seas and Legend of the Seas.
Enjoy the wind in your face as you zip around hundreds of feet above the ocean on inline skates. Protective equipment and skates for kids and adults are available for checkout daily in the Sports Deck, free of charge. This experience is available on Voyager Class Ships.
The Sports Deck onboard Oasis of the SeasSM and Allure of the SeasSM offers a thrilling new experience-the Zip Line. Say "why not?" to your sense of adventure and enjoy another, exhilarating dimension to your cruise trip, suspended nine decks high. Guests race diagonally across an open-air atrium for a unique eagle's-eye view, as they soar from one end of the ship to the other. Brace yourself for a spine-tingling rush view that will surely top your favorite cruising memories of all time.
Only Royal Caribbean gives you the chance to surf onboard a ship. The sloped, wavelike surface of the FlowRider is perfect for beginning, intermediate and advanced surfers. And the surrounding stadium seating and bar are great for surveying wipeouts. Try it out on the Freedom and Oasis class ships.
The FlowRider surf simulator attracts hundreds of eager surfers and oglers to the aft sports court each day. Even guests who never thought they'd try something like this are giving it a go. You don’t need lessons to try out the FlowRider surf simulator, but personal one-on-one sessions with instructors are a great way to get more time on the water so you can master the basics, perfect your form or pick up a few fun tricks.
How It Works
The FlowRider sends a thin sheet of water up a sloped and (thankfully) cushioned platform to create a wavelike flow of water. So it's perfect for beginning, intermediate and advanced surfers. After receiving safety instructions and a few tips for a successful ride from the instructors, you can let 'er rip standing up (flowboarding) or lying down (bodyboarding). Carve, try tricks and otherwise show your stuff as spectators cheer you on from the surrounding viewing platform. If you hear a collective "Owww" in stereo as you wipe out, you'll know you've been broadcast on the flat-screen tvs in the adjacent Wipeout bar.
Please note for safety reasons minimum height requirements are as follows:
Boogie Boarding - 52"
Stand Up Surfing - 58"
There is no charge to ride the FlowRider. And you can gear up for your surfing adventure at the sports boutique.
Onboard Activities Waivers
Save time by signing waivers online in advance for activities like the Rock Climbing Wall, FlowRider®, Zip Line and more! Guests sailing on Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas can sign waivers in advance of sailing, up to 3 days prior to your sail date.
FlowRider® is a registered trademark of Light Wave Ltd. of Reno, Nevada.
Rock Climbing Wall
Royal Caribbean’s signature rock climbing walls are their most popular feature and are available on all Royal Caribbean cruise ships. Whether it's your first time on a rock wall or you're a seasoned climber, there are challenges for all levels of experience. We'll provide all of the equipment, including shoes, helmets and harnesses. All you need to do is bring a pair of socks and, of course, your sense of adventure.
While rock climbing can be fun for both kids and adults, climbers must be 6 years of age or older and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Royal Caribbean also asks each climber to sign a waiver.
For beginners, Royal Caribbean offers on-on-one instruction by appointment at no charge, as well as beginner climbing sessions. For those who are more experienced, there are advanced climbing sessions, speed-climbing competitions and for teens, teen tournaments.
Rock climbing is free for all guests and reservations aren't necessary.
